Beauty Basics

Hi all, Happy Monday!

How quickly is this year going? Aghh!

Anyway! This last Saturday I had the pleasure of working with a lovely family for my Beauty Basics workshop. The workshop is aimed at teens and tweens and covers the basics of application, tools of the trade and a practical session where mistakes are encouraged and we all have a giggle.

My makeup line up when I was a teenager basically consisted of the holy trinity; black kohl eyeliner, rimmel stick concealer and CK1, all applied liberally. Blush was a dirty word and if you were putting concealer on your lips before applying gloss you were basically a trend setter. If it was a special occasion, I’d probably wear some blue hair mascara.

The world of makeup today (specifically makeup tutorials) is so much more accessible and prolific than it was when I was a teenager. With that comes more education on social media (which I think is cool!) but it can also create high expectations surrounding grooming, application and confusion when new techniques and jargon is used.

My goal is to create a look that suits each face, dispell some of the wizardry surrounding makeup and create a positive environment where you can play and experiment. If you can hold a pencil then you can hold a makeup brush (though hold it further down).

Ps, If you’ve read this as a makeup newbie and you’re not a teenager, no shame, I can help! Get in touch at contact@annabellewilliams.co.uk
